Biography

Nuria Luterbacher
Nuria began her musical studies in 1984 at the local music school in Tübingen (Germany), studying flute and participating in the choir, where she often is soloist in various performances.

As a result, she started vocal education lessons and singing lessons at the same school with Christina Schütz-Bock.
In 1998, she participated in the regional competition “Jugend musiziert” in the vocal duet category and won the first prize. At the same time, she collaborated with various school and university choirs.
In 1998 she moved to Barcelona, and finished the grado medio in 2005, singing at the Public Conservatoire (Conservatorio Municipal de Musica de Barcelona) with distinction.
She has attended classes with Cecilia Fondevila, Rosa Mateu, Mercè Baiget, Ma Angels Miró, Carmen Bustamante, Manel Cabero, Dalton Baldwin, Ulrike Sych, Carlos Chausson and Ana Luisa Chova.
She has been member of the “Orfeo Catala”, one of the most important choral societies of Spain, and was awarded a grant from the opera of Sabadell for collaborating with the opera choir during the season 2003/2004.
She has performed concerts, in chamber formations and as a soloist. This includes Spanish music, Lied, opera, oratorio and early music.

In September 2006, she began to study singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Susan Waters, having gained a direct-entry place into year 3 and graduated in 2008.
During the last year, she has performed various concerts with music by Spanish and Catalan composers, German Lied and opera arias in London and surroundings. She has taken part in the concert production of “Cavalleria Rusticana” (Mascagni) with concerts in the Barbican Centre and Italy. She has also performed Opera Scenes as “Donna Elvira” (Don Giovanni, Mozart), “Zweite Dame” (Die Zauberflöte, Mozart) i “Mercédès” (Carmen, Bizet).
She is a member of the “Coro Cervantes”, and took part in the European Premiere of “El cant de les estrelles” by Granados at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in May.

Her repertoire covers opera, lied and oratorio of various styles and periods.
At present, she is undertaking the Certificate of Higher Education in Opera Performance at Birkbeck University, London, where she has performed scenes from Orlando (Dorinda), Händel; Nozze di Figaro (Contessa), Mozart, and Anna Bolena, Donizetti.
She is also a speech therapist (Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona) and has a master’s degree in Music Therapy (Universidad de Barcelona).
She is bilingual in Spanish and German, fluent in English, French and Catalan, and has a good knowledge of Italian.
